Satellite Community Television (SCTV) is a community television organization made up of a body of program providers who are interested in delivering both a metropolitan and a regional satellite television service. Our reach is Australia wide and this can bring new audiences and new advantages for cultural and community development.
SCTV is fundamentally concerned with expanding and developing community participation in free-to-air television. SCTV is a part of TV Plus package and can be seen by thousands of subscribers, as well as 500k+ households with satellite dishes pointed to the IntelSat19 satellite.
There are more than 20 program providers who are participating in broadcasting with SCTV and who have had extensive experience over several years in producing community television. In particular these program providers include people of ethnicity who have been producing many programs in different community languages.
The SCTV organisation has developed the infrastructure necessary for a community TV station to establish access and equity in participation and programming through appropriate governance, financial and administrative arrangements.
Most importantly a regional model of community TV has been set up by sharing programming and participation from regions such as Wollongong and the Illawarra, Newcastle and the Hunter, Queanbeyan the ACT, and Bathurst.
